For always having been loved for her healthy and sexy image, Yoobin’s concept photos for this April’s spring issue will have fans doing a double take. 

For this pictorial, Yoobin was dressed in lace, flowery patterns, straw hats and semi-sheer tops that were based on a neutral beige and white palette. 

Netizens who saw the photos raved, “There’s no other spring fairy quite as lovely as Yoobin” and “Wow, this is the first time I’ve seen Yoobin dressed like this. She looks gorgeous!”

SPICA’s Jiwon Talks About Almost Debuting as a Member of T-ara

On the most recent episode of KBS “Happy Together 3,” SPICA‘s Yang Ji Won talked about all the hardships and troubles she had to go through until she joined SPICA. She confessed, “I was a trainee for 10 years and was a member of Five Girls with G.Na, Yoobin of Wonder Girls, Uee of After School, and Hyosung of Secret.” 

She continued to describe her pre-debut trainee years, “After Five Girls disbanded, I moved to a different agency and joined T-ara. I was about to debut and even filmed the music video. But in the end, I experienced this period of lassitude like all other celebrities. So I left T-ara and didn’t do anything for almost two years.”

Also on this episode of “Happy Together,” Park Soo Hong, Lee Ji Ae, Kang Sung Beom, and Choi Danbi appeared as guests along with Yang Ji Won and talked about various things.

15& Releases First Teaser Image for Comeback

Great news for all 15& fans! Looks like they’re coming very soon!

On March 29, JYP Entertainment updated the talented duo’s official website with a teaser image. The first hint is pretty obvious to any K-Pop buff. What was one of the hottest songs in 2008? Wonder Girls’ “Nobody”! Then next line hints that the girls’ comeback track will be “Somebody,” but we might have to wait for the next teaser to see if that’s right, but the guess is very plausible.

It seems like the girls are coming back on April 7. There are three more “coming soon” boxes to the right of the first teaser hinting three more clues before the big reveal.

JYP Creative Closes And The Business Behind It

A few days ago, JYP Entertainment announced that they closed down a business division in the US, on the grounds of profitability. While JYP Creative‘s closure does not signal the end of JYP Entertainment (many other entertainment companies drop unprofitable acts/entities to stay fighting fit) or the complete end of their American operations (after all, the Korean BBQ restaurant is still open!), it raises many questions about the viability of K-Pop in the US and how well JYP Entertainment is doing as a business entity.

We might be beating a dead horse now, but it’s an open secret the Wonder Girls never really worked out in the US. Apart from that one song which got everybody finger-pointing for a while, nothing much has happened since then (aside from that collaboration with Akon, which was everything right and wrong about K-pop trying to break into the US Market).(...)

U-Kiss Snaps a Photo with Backstreet Boys in Malaysia

Recently, U-Kiss revealed a picture they had taken with the nineties pop sensation Backstreet Boys and commented, “It was such and honor. We are so happy to have met the best world star.”

The two groups met each other in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia at “Twin Towers LIVE 2013” event, celebrating the opening of “F1 Malaysia Grand Prix.” On March 22, U-Kiss and Backstreet Boys held a pre-concert press conference together. They had a great series of conversations, including a story about how they used to practice with Backstreet Boys’ hit single “As Long As You Love Me” in their trainee days.

“Twin Towers LIVE 2013″ is known as one of Malaysia’s biggest night of festivity. U-Kiss was invited to this event as a representative of Korea. Previously, Wonder Girls attended the event in 2011 and Girls’ Generations in 2012. 

In other news, U-Kiss recently released their third regular album “Standing Still.”

Wonder Girls’ Ye Eun Was at The Top 5% of Her High School

Wonder Girls‘ Ye Eun makes it look too easy! Whether it is excelling in her studies or adjusting to the hectic life of an idol, she proves that you can do anything if you set your mind to it.

On March 14, Ye Eun furnished her report card on KBS 2‘s “Happy Together Season 3” as proof of her bright and capable mind. This wasn’t just any ordinary report card either, for it was during this academic grading period that Wonder Girls‘ “Tell Me” swept the entire nation up in a frenzy and placed the girls front and center in the limelight. 

Anyone would have understood a slight drop in grades, but Ye Eun didn’t let that become her crutch. In fact, she revealed that she would bring textbooks inside the car to study while moving from place to place. All her efforts paid off in high marks, ranking her first out of 41 students in her class and landing her in the top 3rd percentile out of her entire school of 614 students! Now that’s definitely elite college material right there.

Wonder Girls’ Ye Eun Mispronounced “Coke” As the Word for a Male Rooster?

Wonder Girls‘ Ye Eun recently shared an embarrassing moment when she pronounced popular soft drink “Coke” the same way you would pronounce the word for…a male rooster?

On March 14, Ye Eun was asked on “Happy Together Season 3” whether she had encountered any problems with communication while promoting activities in the United States. 

Ye Eun began cautiously, “Is it okay if I share this on air?” and continued, “Well, I learned that only Koreans call Coca Cola, ‘cola.’  Those who live in the U.S. actually refer to it as ‘coke.’ As a Korean, I was used to pronouncing oh’s as uh’s and ended up pronouncing coke with an ‘uh’ and accidentally formed the English word for the male’s you-know-where…” causing the audience to erupt in laughter.

Happy White Day, Soompiers! Celebrities Celebrate White Day

What is “White Day,” you ask? It is a day where guys give girls white gifts (candies, chocolates or jewelry)  and it’s celebrated in Asian countries like China, Japan, South Korea and Taiwan on March 14- although, there are slight variations in each country.

In South Korea, it’s mostly celebrated between lovers and some men will have a social obligation of gifting ladies with white gifts if he received a chocolate on Valentine’s Day. Many elementary students gift the whole class with candies while secondary school boys use this day as a great opportunity to confess to their crush.

A survey was conducted by a dental clinic in Gangnam asking 337 females in their teens and twenties who they would like to receive a candy from and Lee Seung Gi came out on top with 142 votes. Beast’s Lee Ki Kwang placed second with 97 votes and Kim Soo Hyun rounded out in third with 94 votes.

The person conducting the survey commented, “It’s because of his beautiful smile that gives off a friendly vibe. There is no female who would deny a White Day candy from a man with a beautiful smile.” (author’s note: this is from a dental clinic. Of course they would talk about smiles.)

On March 12, she tweeted, “It’s been a long time since I woke up this early. On my way to to filming with a refreshing heart,” and attached a photo.

In the photo, Yubin is seen in a car, smiling for the camera as she heads off to work. Dressed comfortably in casual street clothes, Yubin showed off her refreshed face, drawing attention with her flawless complexion. Those who’ve seen the photo commented, “She looks so beautiful and happy,” “Enjoying her drama,” “I wish I had her skin,” and more.

Meanwhile, Yubin made her acting debut through cable series, OCN’s “The Virus,” as the genius hacker Lee Joo Young. “The Virus” also stars Eom Ki Joon, Kim Hyun Woo, Park Min Woo, and Lee Ki Woo. The mystery thriller will follow the Special Infection Crisis Task Force as they struggle against a new virus that can kill humans in just three days.

Meanwhile, Sunye got married on January 26 with missionary James Pak in Seoul. The couple moved to Canada on February 7 to settle down. JYP Entertainment previously mentioned that Sunye will take a temporary break from Wonder Girls to focus on her transition as a wife.

Can You Imagine Calling DBSK as The Internal Organs?

Earlier today, the internet was abuzz with a post that listed what was originally official stage names of today’s most famous idols.

The post titled “Idols’ Original Stage Names” was shared on several online communities and explained what could have been DBSK, Wonder Girls, Super Junior, Big Bang, and other popular idol groups’ official stage names.

DBSK almost debuted as The Internal Organs, while the Wonder Girls’ original group name was L.C, short for Ladies Club. Sunye’s original stage name was Sunny, Sohee was IC, Ye Eun was Silver, ex-WG member HyunA was Mint and Sunmi was Berry.

Super Junior’s Leeteuk was almost named Kangsoo; Shindong, Udong; Kangin, Woongdam; and Kyuhyun was originally Kwihyun.

Big Bang almost debuted as Diamond, and T.O.P. could have been Mark; Daesung, Big Castle; Seungri, Sonic; and Taeyang could have been Tae Kwon.
