Sunmi VS. Sky Ferreira: Which '24 Hours' Song Is Better? G-Dragon Collaborator Releases Debut Album 'Night Time, My Time'

Sunmi and Wonder Girls fans are no doubt missing the solo singer since her promotional activities for "24 Hours" has ended, but there is a new "24 Hours" on the horizon!

American singer, songwriter, and actress Sky Ferreira has released her debut solo album "Night Time, My Time."

K-Pop fans might know Ferreira thanks to her collaboration with G-Dragon on his solo album "Coup D'etat" for the song "Black."

It appears that with the song "Black" on G-Dragon's album, CL was the one who introduced singer Sky Ferreira to G-Dragon.

"I met with CL from 2NE1 when I was in Korea. She brought me to the studio where G-Dragon was making his record," says Ferreira according to YGLadies.

"They were like, 'Sky, we have this song that we want you to sing in.' And I did it. When they played it back, it sounded cool, but so different from anything I would do on my own. But it reminded me of stuff that I really like, that late 80's and early 90's R&B."

And now with Sky Ferreira's very own album, fans are noticing a song called "24 Hours," the same song that has given Sunmi her own name as a solo artist.

JYP Entertainment Is Returning To Its Former Glory, But Don't Call It A Comeback

JYP Entertainment is ready to make a strong comeback.

JYP Entertainment is ready to make a strong comeback.

October was a great month for Park Jin Young, most popularly known as JYP. The CEO of JYP Entertainment, who celebrated eighteen years in the music industry back in May 2013, announced early in October that he was getting married. This marriage, to someone who was not tied to the Korean entertainment industry, came as a to a shock to fans and industry insiders. However, married life has appeared be a great thing for Park Jin Young who is set to make a solo comeback and to lead JYP Entertainment back to its rightful place as one of the big three K-Pop agencies.

Like Us on Facebook :

2012 was not a good year at JYP Entertainment. The year marked the start of whispers within the K-Pop community that JYP Entertainment was failing as an agency, when compared to the success of YG and SM Entertainment. While 2012 led to the full debut of the widely successful group EXO and sold out world tour performances for YG Entertainment's Big Bang and 2NE1, JYP Entertainment failed to show the same accomplishments. By contrast, 2012 was year in which popular male group 2PM did not have a major release. The sequel to the well-received JYP backed drama, Dream High 2, was met with low ratings and criticized for having poorly constructed plot lines. While Dream High served to set industry standards for artist marketing, its sequel completely detracted from these artists.

Other than his participation as a judge in the high profile audition program, Kpop Star, there was very little buzz surrounding Park Jin Young and and JYP Entertainment. Further substantiating claims that JYP Entertainment was falling from grace was the announcement that the agency would be closing its New York City office and halting attempts to enter the U.S. market, which was one of the key goals for Wonder Girls. At the end of 2012, Wonder Girls announced that they would be taking a hiatus from the industry, primarily due to the fact that member Sunmi was going to marry her longtime boyfriend. Unfortunately, this announcement appeared to serve as the death knell for JYP Entertainment.

Although, 2PM made a very solid comeback earlier in 2013, there was still little activity seen from the agency as a whole, throughout the year. At the completion of Kpop Star 3, it was widely speculated that the winning duo Akdong Musician would choose JYP Entertainment to represent their future careers as K-Pop artists. However, the brother and sister songwriters went to YG Entertainment. This served as yet another blow to the agency, which definitely needed the buzz which surrounded Akdong Musician.

Perhaps, in K-drama fashion JYP was preoccupied with wooing the woman who would become his wife. Following his marriage in October, JYP announced that he would be performing a Christmas Eve show as part of his 2013 J.Y. Park Bad Party (The Half Time Show) Tour. In addition he reaffirmed both his athletic prowess and performance ability on variety show Cool Kiz On The Block.

Beyond his solo comeback proclamations, Park Jin Young announced that he would soon be releasing a new male group, alluding that the seemingly abandoned JJ Project would be included in the group. Additionally, October marked the release of comeback teasers for girl group Miss A. Finally, October ended with the news that JYP had met with Google executive, Eric Schmidt, which could lead to revolutionary measures in how Korean entertainment reaches a worldwide market. After what seemed like a lengthy break from K-Pop, Park Jin Young and JYP Entertainment are finally back.

Craziest Transformations: Female Edition

I think the most scandalous thing I ever saw Sunmi wear during her stint with the Wonder Girls was in "So Hot" where she wore a skirt. I mean let's be serious, when it came to innocence and purity, Sunmi was the queen.

But now those days are gone and now that she's gone solo, Sunmi amped it and the days where she was innocent are all over.

Like Us on Facebook :

When 2NE1 first debuted, CL always looked like she had a bad haircut. She wore makeup that did nothing for her face and outfits that never made her look quite as feminine as we wished it had.

Now look at her. She is the epitome of hot.

I personally think that the biggest transformation in SNSD has to go to Tiffany. When she first debuted, she was this short hair bob wearing girl who could only pull off cute.

Nowadays, she's sexy, cute, hot, and womanly.

When Yoon Eun Hye debuted with Baby V.O.X she looked like a 90's K-pop star gone wrong.

Nowadays, she's an A-list actress with elegance, grace, and poise.

When Miryo of BEG first debuted, she looked like a cute rapper.

Over the years she's turned into a rapping sex pistol.

JYP Entertainment Defends An Online Photo Post By Miss A's Min Featuring Rick Ross's Head On Sunmi's Body

Executives from JYP Entertainment, the record label for the K-pop girl group Miss A, defended band member Min in the wake of an online photo post on Monday that left some fans accusing the singer of racism.

The photo Min posted featured the head of rapper Rick Ross's pasted onto the body of Lee Sunmi formerly of Wonder Girls reaching for a piece of fried chicken is overt racism or something much more benign.

"Rick Ross--Lacking 24 servings," was Min's caption for the photo in a statement presumably referencing the racial stereotype that all African Americans like fried chicken.

Like Us on Facebook :

The post has since been taken down.

"Min posted [the photo of Rick Ross's head on Sunmi's body to a social networking site] without any malicious intent," the JYP Entertainment statement read, according to the website allkpop.

"She later realized it was wrong of her to do so and took the picture down. She had no intention of causing a racial discrimination controversy."

Less than 24 hours after a story about Min's undeniably odd doctored photo was published on the website allkpop, 1,200 people had commented on the story, with emotions ranging from outrage to apathy.

Reader Alana Kang can't believe Min would put up something that racially insensitive.

"It's a damn shame," Kang wrote on Monday. "She spent years in America. She should know better."

The Miss A fan is presumably referring to the 22-year-old singer's time at the Repertory Company High School in New York City.

"That's like when [ESPN editor Anthony Federico wrote in a headline that NBA star] Jeremy Lin was 'a chink in the armor'...certain stuff you can't say and that's just how it is, no ifs ands or buts."

Reader Druidboss feels the incident is being blown way out of proportion.

"Omg! Anyone who knows anything about hip-hop will know that people constantly clown on Rick Ross for his weight," Druidboss wrote

"I've seen Rick Ross chicken memes on Facebook before. You're veering into pretty sketchy territory if you see fried chicken and your brain makes the automatic connection to black people before anything else."

Miss A Min’s Doctored Picture of Sunmi… Why Did She Do It?

Miss A member Min uploaded a doctored photo of former Wonder Girls member Sunmi onto her Instagram. But why did she do it?

Because of the photo, Min is surrounded by a controversy labeling her as a racist. She modified a photo of Sunmi, who resides in the same agency as Miss A, and combined it to include rapper Rick Ross.

Min manipulated the photo so that Rick Ross' face is on Sunmi's sexy body, who looks as if he is reaching for a fried chicken drumstick. It was uploaded with the caption "24 Servings Isn't Enough," to parody Sunmi's song "24 Hours," which includes the lyrics, "24 Hours Is Not Enough."

Like Us on Facebook :

No matter what Min's intent was, overseas netizens pointed out that the fried chicken was used to make fun of black people, and she is now the center of a racism controversy. They speculate that she was using the stereotype that all black people love fried chicken to poke fun using this photo.

People in the online community had vastly different opinions, and commented, "Min's racism controversy, why does it have to include Sunmi's body?" "Suzy must be so tired from earning all the money," "It could really mean nothing at all, but Min should still explain herself," and "I don't understand why she used a photo of Sunmi, who is in the same agency, to doctor the photo." The photo has been taken down.

Miss A’s Min on Racism Controversy ‘Didn’t Mean Anything By It’ Recognizes Her Mistake

Miss A Min's agency revealed her motives on uploading the controversial photo.

Min uploaded a doctored photo of rapper Rick Ross on former Wonder Girls member Sunmi's body, in which he is reaching for a fried chicken drumstick. She uploaded the photo onto her Instagram with the caption "24 servings Is not enough." Sunmi's body photo is a screen capture from her latest music video of "24 Hours." Internet users have commented on the photo, saying that it was racist of Min to use black people's love of chicken as the topic for this photo.

In an interview on October 21st, Min's agency stated, "Min uploaded the photo with no other motive," and "She then realized her mistake and took down the picture," and explained that Min never had any racist intentions.

Internet users have taken opposing sides on this matter, and commented, "Min's racism controversy, shouldn't she clarify her position?" "What was she thinking when she uploaded such a picture?" "She should have thought carefully before uploading the photo," and "What could she possibly be trying to say with this photo?"

Miss A Fans Sound Off About Min's Odd Online Post Featuring Rick Ross's Head On Sunmi's Body

Fans of Lee Min Young of the Chinese-Korean girl group Miss A are divided on whether a doctored photo posted online by the singer featuring rapper Rick Ross's head on the body of Lee Sunmi of Wonder Girls reaching for a piece of fried chicken is overt racism or something much more benign.

"Rick Ross--Lacking 24 servings," was Min's caption for the photo in a statement presumably referencing the racial stereotype that all African Americans like fried chicken.

If anyone should be offended by this image it should be those fat acceptance groups, not black people."

Jen227 agrees that it isn't a big deal.

"As a Chinese person, if someone stuck Jackie Chan's head on Sunmi's body and replaced the fried chicken with chow mein, I would simply giggle and then go on with my life."

Miss A fan Joke123 doesn't see it that way.

"The people here defending and automatically blowing it off as no big deal need to shut up. If someone stuck your oppa or unnie's head on someone elses body and put a bowl of kimchi there you'd be flipping your shit."

Reader Alison George says she is unfazed by the doctored photo.

"I'm black and I live in America and I'm not offended at all," she wrote on Monday.

"There are way worst things I hear on a daily basis. She's no Paula Deen so just chill. Plus I think it's more of a jab [about Rick Ross's] weight not his skin color. Come on. It's Min. She listens to black music. I think she's good."

Wonder Girls’ Sun Is a Baby Mama! First Active Idol to Marry and Have Babies

Wonder Girls member Sun (Sun Ye) has given birth to a daughter, and has set the record for being the first active idol girl group member to go from marrying to having babies.

On October 17th, Sun uploaded onto her Twitter, "Thanks to everyone's prayers and support, I gave birth to a beautiful little girl in 8 hours via homebirth. Thank you for all the birth celebration gifs! We'll do our best to raise her as a healthy child," along with a photo of her newborn.

The photo shows the baby's side, hands, and feet. Through this event, Sun set a record of being an active girl group member to give birth. Sun revealed that she will be going on a mission soon thereafter. Although she's not currently present with Wonder Girls in their activities, the group still considers itself to have 5 members including Sun.

Like Us on Facebook :

In January, Sun shared her wedding vows with James Park, a Korean missionary in Canada who is 5 years her junior. Sun started dating her husband in 2011, who was working as a Haitian missionary, and after 2 years of dating, they finally tied the knot.

In April, Sun wrote, "I really respect all the mothers in the world that have experienced the mysteries and wonders of life. He has allowed us to have a honeymoon baby," and surprised everyone with the surprise news of her pregnancy.

In May, she came back to Korea with her husband and received blessings from her family and many others. After 3 months of prenatal care, she returned to her newlywed home in Canada to prepare for childbirth.

It's amazing that Sun, who is still considered an active member of a girl group, gave birth to a daughter. However, with news of her plans to go to Haiti for missions, Wonder Girls is at stake. Furthermore, all members besides Lim have contracts that are expiring late this year and early next year, so it's very likely that Wonder Girls' activities will be coming to an end.

While a lot of people may be envious of IU’s body, IU is actually jealous of women with curves.
On October 14’s broadcast of KBS’ Hello, IU appeared as a guest with K.Will, EXO’s Kai and Lady.

During the show, a woman appeared saying that her older sister is always bothering her by saying she’s gained weight. The woman revealed that she’s 165 centimeters and 55 kilograms and is completely satisfied with her life, but is receiving stress with her older sister constantly bickering about what she eats and how she eats it.
“I think there’s something like that exists between sisters,” said IU. “I also live with two sisters, and when they see my skinny body, they said that I don’t have anything.”

The MCs asked if her sisters then have something, and IU replied, “My sisters are on the curvy side. When asked if she’s jealous, IU answered with a laugh, “I am jealous.”

Meanwhile, when told she has grown into a mature woman, IU said, “I dyed my hair. I also gained weight and lost some.”

Wonder Girls’ Ye Eun Will Play a Maid During the Japanese Occupation

Wonder GirlsYe Eun will be making her TV drama debut with tvN‘s Basketball.”

“Basketball” tells the story of the love and conflicts of youth during, as well as after, Japanese occupation in Korea, With basketball as their guiding light, the youth fight their way through the tumultuous times. This will be the first work of Director Kwak Jeong Hwan (“Chuno,” “Fugitive: Plan B”) following his transfer to CJ E&M.

Park Ye Eun will be playing the role of Bong Soon, a maid with a dialect, with wit, and a warm heart, who stays by the side of the main character, Choi Shin Young (played by Lee Elliya). Despite this being her first drama, Park Ye Eun was complimented by the director for her exceptional understanding of the character.

On choosing the role of Bong Soon, Park Ye Eun said that, “Because ‘Basketball’ portrays the lives of the upper class in the 1930s and 40s, I was tempted by the roles that get to wear the beautiful costumes. However, as a character who represents the common people during the Japanese occupation in Korea, Bong Soon was the most appealing to me.”

[News] Heechul and Taeyeon’s Ice Cream Date
Super Junior’s Heechul and Girls’ Generation’s Taeyeon treat our eyes as they treat their palates with this fun photo on Heechul’s Instagram. The fellow SM labelmates are seen enjoying some afternoon ice cream, with Heechul’s distinctive sunglasses and Taeyeon’s slightly disheveled hair, both looking adorable as always.

Along with the picture, Heechul includes some lyrics from Super Junior’s song “Daydream” off their “Sexy, Free and Single” album – “I shut my ears and try to listen to you. I close both eyes and try to draw you… <Daydream>”

In related news, Heechul recently made his comeback talk show appearance on JTBC‘s “War of Words,” and Taeyeon will be joining Girls’ Generation on the Singapore leg of their current world tour called “Girls’ Generation: Girls & Peace in Singapore.
